Chang Beer – ‘Country Winner’ at World Beer Awards 2017
Chang Beer, an internationally recognized Thai beer, was named Thailand Country Winner for Lager Beer in the Helles/Münchner style at World Beer Awards 2017, a global beer competition held by TheDrinksReport.com, the world’s No. 1 online magazine for alcoholic drinks industry. The annual World Beer Awards started in 2007 and is held every year ever since. Its competition is divided into eight main categories based upon commonly held groupings—Dark Beer, Flavored Beer, Lager Beer, Pale Beer, Sour Beer, Specialty Beer, Stout & Porter, and Wheat Beer—with altogether 72 beer styles. This year’s competition attracted over 1,900 beers from more than 36 countries worldwide.
The international and highly respected judging panel blind tasted and scored the entries in two rounds of judging and selected Chang Beer as Thailand Country Winner for Lager Beer in Helles/Münchner style. This beer style is characterised by its light to heavy gold in colour with malt sweetness, light dusting of floral and spicy hops on aroma and palate, clean tasting with gentle finish and light hop bitterness, and generally 4.8-5.4% ABV.
The final round will be held in London, where 100 international brewers, industry experts and journalists taste and vote on the World’s Best Beers of 2017 in eight categories, which will be announced on 21 September.
